Guns and Horses

It's been quite a while since I last blogged. But here I am with some startling news. A few weeks ago, my cousin and i were harrased by a group of gang members in front of the gas station 2 blocks down from my school. One in particular found me pleasing to the eye, and became upset when I rejected his offer. He bagan the usual non-creative insults and taunted me until I left. I found out today that that same gang member was shot and killed recently, probably last night. You'd think that I wouldn't care that he passed, even think that i should say that he deserved it. But I can't.

It's a sense of empathy that i feel when imagining what that must be like. To have your life stolen from you, even if you've stolen the lives of countless others. Whether we realize it or not, our life is what we value most as human beings. There's an air of hopelessness when your'e lying on the ground dying, utterlly helpless against it. So what that he was a minority? I didn't even know the guy's name and here I am pitying the loss. There's no justification that can be made that says he deserved to die at 18. Everyone should have another chance....but unfortunately we don't have one.
